Starlight Med Spa is thrilled to have two incredible cosmetic nurses who offer dermal fillers as part of our injectable services in Vaughan and soon Toronto! Nurse Ksenya and Viktoria provide several services that will help to keep you looking refreshed, youthful, and glowing at any age.
Dermal fillers have gained tremendous popularity in recent years, with celebrities like Hailey Bieber sporting natural enhancements we can't get enough of. Dermal fillers are a non-surgical solution for plump skin, providing additional volume to areas of the face where collagen is lacking for a youthful glow.
While dermal fillers are an effective treatment method for a younger appearance, it's crucial to understand the dos and don'ts for aftercare that you must follow for the best results. In this blog, we will explore the most essential guidelines to ensure a safe and successful experience with dermal fillers.
Before considering dermal fillers, conduct thorough research to understand the procedure and potential side effects. We recommend you schedule a consultation with Nurse Ksenya or Viktoria who both specialize in cosmetic injections. This consultation will allow you to discuss your goals, address any concerns, and determine if you are an ideal candidate for dermal fillers.
Dos of Dermal Fillers
Keep the treated area clean and gently wash with a mild cleanser, like Starlight Skin's Illuminating Gel Cleanser.
Apply ice packs or cold compresses to reduce swelling and help with any discomfort. It is normal for the injected area to feel tender to the touch and swollen following the procedure.
Stay hydrated. You'll never hear us say this enough, however specifically after dermal fillers and other invasive procedures, staying hydrated will help your skin to heal faster.
Follow specific instructions given by Nurse Ksenya or Viktoria. They will discuss your post-treatment care at the time of your appointment and provide guidance on what you can and cannot do.
Patience, patience, patience! It can take up to two weeks for the dermal filler to fully settle and show its final effect. Trust the process.
Protect your skin from unnecessary sun exposure. If you must go into the sun, be sure to apply a mineral sunscreen and wear protection like a hat.
Don'ts of Dermal Fillers
Touch or massage the treated area for 24 hours minimum. Doing so may cause the filler to migrate to areas not intended, ultimately affecting your results.
Apply makeup or other products directly on the treated area following the procedure. We recommend waiting at least 24-48 hours before applying makeup or other products to the area.
Engage in strenuous exercise or other activities that may cause you to sweat. Though small, injectables create a tiny puncture in the skin where bacteria can enter. To avoid any risk of infection, we recommend you avoid exercising for at least 24 hours following your treatment.
Drink alcohol or take blood-thinning medications. For a minimum of 48 hours, avoid consuming alcohol or taking non-essential blood thinners, like aspirin.
Panic! Mild swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness are entirely normal and will subside a few days after treatment. If your symptoms persist, contact your injector.
Assuming Long-Lasting Results: While dermal filler results can be long-lasting, they are not permanent. Understand that the effects usually last for several months to a year, depending on the type of filler used. Plan for future touch-ups to maintain your desired appearance.
Dermal fillers can be a fantastic solution for enhancing your natural beauty and boosting your self-confidence. By following the dos and don'ts outlined in this guide, you can ensure a safe and successful experience. When meeting with Nurse Ksenya or Viktoria, they will outline the procedure, help to set realistic expectations and prioritize your safety throughout the process. Enjoy the benefits of dermal fillers and embrace your rejuvenated, youthful skin at Starlight Med Spa!
